Vallejo Mills Historic Park—California

The 1986 archaeological investigations at the Vallejo Mills Historic Park entailed finding Don Jose De Jesus Vallejo's California occupation complex and grist mills built in 1841 and 1853.

The majority of the site consisted of historic artifacts, with a small scattering of Prehistoric artifacts. Historical records indicate that De Jesus employed some Native Americans to build his mill; however, the prehistoric artifacts encountered do not give enough information to confirm or deny this theory.
